Query server c/c++

Hello,
Could someone help me with how to query hlds servers and read response of that query in c++ ? A small example would be highly favoured.

Build environment : Linux.

I'm not making a metamod module but a standalone c++ executable program

Explain what does "query server" means from your point of view

I want to get some remote server details by sending tsource query packet and reading response. I then want to parse that ressponse to store the map name and others in variables and thus then resend that response to some other client on some other port.. It is a part of a big project.
